Danfoss Variable Frequency Drives Why Danfoss Danfoss has been making drives for 40 years. In that time they have learned a great deal and have developed a drive that is different from the rest. We call them the Danfoss Difference. I will list them below: The Danfoss Difference Built to be industrially bulletproof and deliver robust performance in the harshest industrial environments. Unpackage it, mount it, wire it, commission it and sleep worry free every night. (VLT FC300 and VLT FC100 units only, other models have many of the same features listed below but not all of them.) Meeting the toughest electrical codes – worldwide: e.g., VDE 0160 requires electrical apparatus to withstand 2.3 times its rated voltage for 1.2 ms. Using the prescribed fuses, Danfoss drives can capably interrupt 100,000 amps. Because of this: No need for isolation transformer. Danfoss is ISO 14001. Made in the USA in Loves Park, IL and other countries world wide. Need for isolation transformer eliminated metal oxide arrestors and zenor diodes suppress Transients on the AC line. Phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground protection: Output CT's monitor; protect against phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground shorts and along with DC link inductors allow unlimited switching of the output. Phase loss protection: Constant monitoring of the three AC line supply phases insures tripping in case of phase loss. Reduced nuisance tripping: A 460 volt Danfoss drive can operate between 342 and 550 volts. AC Line Supply Interference/Harmonics: Danfoss builds in DC link inductors to reduce harmonic line currents to 40% or less of the functional current. Electronic Thermal Relay (ETR): Drive software calculates operating temperatures based on voltage, frequency, current and time providing UL recognized Class 20 overload. Industry low dv/dt and peak voltages: Danfoss allows the use all types of 3-phased asynchronous standard PWM rated motors as well as a 1,000’ distance between the drive and motor without additional inductors. Most applications do not require an inverter duty motor. Fast system response time: Sampling frequency of 3ms +/-1 provides high dynamic performance. No motor derating: VVCPLUS technology produces a near perfect sinusoidal waveform providing smoother, quieter and cooler motor operation with full rated motor performance. UL Listed enclosures: Chassis, Nema 1 and a real NEMA 12 are UL Listed. NEMA 12 requires the ability to withstand exposure to splashing liquids from all directions for 10 minutes. Space savings: Book style chassis (1-10 horsepower) maximizes panel space. Book style and Compact chassis (1-600 horsepower) require zero side clearance. Great application flexibility: 40 years of AFD application experience are reflected in over 185 operating parameters including built-in PID control. Most field buses are supported Device Net, Interbus, Profibus, etc. Ease of use: Quick Menu includes 13 of the most common parameters for fast, easy commissioning Automatic motor adaptation is achieved without spinning motor shaft. Connectivity to a wide range of control products: In addition to analog and digital inputs/outputs, a built-in RS-485 and USB port is provided with every Danfoss drive for serial communication.
